When it comes to finding natural stone for your home, there are plenty to choose from. Two of our favourites, here at Authentic Stone, are Turkish White Marble and Bianco Carrara Marble. These two types of marble are very similar in terms of look, origin and characteristics, so it can be hard to choose the right one for your space.
If you’re struggling to decide between Turkish White Marble and Bianco Carrara Marble, this article is for you.
Turkish White Marble
Origin
As you might have guessed, Turkish White Marble comes from Turkey. Turkey is known for its extensive marble quarries and the country has a rich history for being one of the biggest marble exporters in the world.
Looks
Turkish white has a very pure, bright white background with minimal veining. If you’re looking for a subtle marble that has a clear, contemporary look, Turkish White Marble might be the better choice for you. It has a more uniform appearance too, with fewer irregularities, which is great if you are using it in vast areas.
Texture
Turkish white usually has a polished finish, which results in a reflective and glossy look, giving it a very high-end feel. This type of marble stone is also often available in a honed finish, which is slightly softer and less reflective.
Versatility
Turkish marble is great for ultra-modern, sleek interiors. It has a minimalist feel that goes well with glass, stainless steel and modern appliances.
Bianco Carrera Marble
Origin
This marble is quarried in Italy, a country known for producing some of the most beautiful marble in the world (look at the David statue by Michaelangelo, for example). The Italian quarries date back to Roman times.
Looks
This Italian marble has an almost light grey background with soft, feathery veining, which is more pronounced than the Turkish version. Bianco has a rich, deep texture which makes it great for those who want a more traditional feel.
Texture
Bianco is available in the same finishes as Carrera, but its grey tones come to life under polishing giving it a high-contrast appearance. If you’re looking for a more rustic marble, Bianco is the best choice as this stone is also available in tumbled and antique finishes.
Versatility
Bianco is better for traditional, rustic spaces, thanks to its softer appearance. It can work beautifully in Shaker kitchens or rustic bathrooms, complementing timeless interiors perfectly.
